Tupac Amaru Shakur , známy aj pod umeleckým menom 2Pac alebo ako Makaveli, bol americký raper a herec. Do roku 2010 sa po celom svete predalo viac ako 75 miliónov jeho albumov, čím sa stal jedným z najpredávanejších hudobných umelcov na svete. Televízna stanica MTV ho zaradila na 2. miesto vo svojom zozname The Greatest MCs of All Time a časopis Rolling Stone ho zaradil na 86. miesto vo svojom zozname Greatest Artist of All Time. Jeho dvojdiskový album s názvom All Eyez on Me sa stal jedným z najpredávanejších hiphopových albumov všetkých čias. Tupac mal veľké úspechy aj po smrti, a preto si Eminem zakúpil práva na produkciu Shakurovho albumu Loyal to the Game aby sa album dokončil. Guinnesova kniha rekordov ho taktiež zaradila medzi najúspešnejšieho repera všetkých čias so 75 miliónmi predaných albumov. V hiphopovej komunite je považovaný za najváženejšieho repera.

Shakur začal svoju kariéru ako roadie, tanečník v pozadí a MC v alternatívnej hiphopovej skupine Digital Underground, z ktorej nakoniec odišiel a začal sólovú kariéru. Vo väčšine svojich textov sa zameriaval na násilie a utrpenie v mestách, rasizmus a ďalšie sociálne problémy. Obaja jeho rodičia a niekoľko ďalších z jeho rodiny boli členmi Strany čiernych panterov , ktorej ideály používal vo svojich skladbách.

Počas poslednej časti svojej kariéry bol vokálnym účastníkom takzvaného sporu East Coast vs. West Coast, v ktorom sa dostal do sporov s ďalšími rapermi, producentmi a členmi vydavateľstiev, a to predovšetkým s The Notorious B.I.G.om a jeho vydavateľstvom Bad Boy Records.Dňa 7. septembra 1996 bol viacnásobne postrelený počas jazdy na križovatke ulíc Flamingo Road a Koval Lane v Las Vegas. Hneď nato bol prevezený do nemocnice University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, kde po šiestich dňoch podľahol svojim zraneniam. Wikipedia
