Ralph Waldo Ellison bol americký vedec a spisovateľ.

Narodil sa v Oklahoma City, meno dostal podľa spisovateľa Ralpha Walda Emersona. Ellison sa stal známym svojím románom Neviditeľný , za ktorý získal National Book Award v roku 1953. Taktiež napísal Shadow and Act , zbierku politických, sociálnych a kritických esejí, a Going to the Territory . Výskum Lawrenca Jacksona, Ellisonovho životopisca, ukázal, že Ellison sa narodil o rok skôr ako sa dovtedy myslelo. Wikipedia
