Lucius Apuleius Platonicus bol rímsky spisovateľ berberského pôvodu – sám sa označuje ako spola Numid a spola Gétul -, známy predovšetkým vďaka svojmu románu Metamorphoses, tiež označovaného ako Aureus Asinus. Αpuleiov praenomen nie je doložený, ale býva stotožňovaný s menom hlavného hrdinu jeho románu, Luciom.
