Kurt Vonnegut bol americký spisovateľ.

Vonnegut bol autorom kritizujúcim spoločnosť. Ako vojak americkej armády bol svedkom hrôz v druhej svetovej vojne a zo svojich skúseností čerpal pri písaní svojich najznámejších diel Bitúnok č. 5, Matka noc, Raňajky šampiónov, Mechanický klavír, Cat's Cradle a ďalšie. Ako odporca vojny je považovaný za pacifistu, a sám seba vyhlasoval za humanistu, bol dokonca čestným predsedom Americkej asociácie humanistov. Tvorba Kurta Vonneguta významne ovplyvnila vývin vedecko-fantastickej literatúry. Preto bol autor v rokoch 1960, 1964 a 1970 nominovaný na Huggo Award za Najlepší román. Wikipedia

Eliza and I … proposed that the Constitution be amended so as to guarantee that every citizen, no matter how humble, or crazy or incompetent or deformed, somehow be given membership in some family as covertly xenophobic and crafty as the one their public servants formed.”
