Joseph Alois Schumpeter bol významný rakúsky a americký ekonóm, ktorý sa narodil na Morave. Teoretik antiimperializmu.
Bol profesorom na viacerých univerzitách Rakúsko-Uhorska a od roku 1932 v Harvarde. Vo Viedni ako profesor nikdy nepôsobil, hoci sa o to celý život usiloval.
Zaoberal sa teóriou spoločenských a inštitucionálnych zmien, najmä teóriou hospodárskeho rozvoja, dynamiky a štrukturálnych zmien trhovej ekonomiky. Bol prívržencom matematicko-funkčného smeru teórie hraničnej užitočnosti, autor teórie samolikvidácie kapitalizmu, teórie inovácie, vypracoval vlastnú teóriu úroku. Bol dôsledným zástancom evolucionizmu. Wikipedia
