V protiklade k Jamesovi a F. C. S. Schillerovi zakladá ľudské poznanie na skúsenosti spojenej s rozvojom techniky. Tento rozvoj dokazuje neustála premenlivosť všetkého, čo je hmotné a duchovné, všetkého, o čom s konečnou platnosťou rozhoduje ľudská činnosť. One of the outstanding problems created by the rise of modern science was due to the fact that scientific definitions and descriptions are framed in terms of which qualities play no part.
