António de Oliveira Salazar citáty

António de Oliveira Salazar bol portugalský politik, ktorý bol v rokoch 1932 až 1968 ministerským predsedom Portugalska v roku 1951 krátko aj jeho prezidentom.

Narodil sa ako posledné z 11 detí do chudobnej rodiny. Študoval na teologickom seminári v rokoch 1900 až 1914 a chcel sa stať kňazom, ale seminár opustil a začal študovať ekonómiu na univerzite v Coimbre.

V roku 1928 sa stal po prevrate Antónia de Fragoso Carmona v roku 1926 ministrom financii. V roku 1932 sa stal ministerským predsedom v Carmonovej vláde. Počas jeho vlády došlo k zákazu socialistických, komunistických a fašistických politických strán. Roku 1933 zaviedol novú ústavu, ktorá mu zaručovala široké právomoci a nastolila autoritatívny režim. V tom istom roku vyhlásil "Estado Novo" , plán, ktorý mal za úlohu pozdvihnúť životnú úroveň Portugalska, ktoré bolo v tom čase jednou z najchudobnejších zemí Európy.

V období občianskej vojny v Španielsku podporoval Franca z obavy pred komunizmom. V druhej svetovej vojne vyhlásilo Portugalsko neutralitu, vo vojne bolo iba s Japonskom, ktoré obsadilo Východný Timor. Vo vojnovom období taktiež poskytlo Azory spojencom.

V roku 1949 sa pod Salazarovým vedením Portugalsko stalo členom NATO, čím sa zapojilo do boja proti komunizmu počas Studenej vojny. Portugalsku bola ponúknutá pomoc v rámci Marshallovho plánu, no bola odmietnutá. Roku 1951 sa stal nakrátko prezidentom, no sám chápal túto funkciu len ako dočasnú a po zvolení Francisca Craveira Lopesa odstúpil.

Roku 1968 utrpel vážne zranenie mozgu, pri páde z kresla. Ostal mu titul ministerského predsedu, no prezident Américo Thomazem ho zbavil pracovných povinností.

Zomrel 27. júla 1970 v Lisabone, kde sa konala aj posledná rozlúčka s ním a po nej bolo jeho telo prevezené do rodného mesta a tam bolo aj pochované. Wikipedia
