Alžbeta II. je od 6. februára 1952 kráľovná Spojeného kráľovstva a ďalších 17 štátov z windsorskej dynastie.

Podľa dynastického práva nastúpila kráľovná Alžbeta na trón po smrti svojho otca Juraja VI. V deň jeho smrti bola na štátnej návšteve v Keni a Rada trónneho nástupcu ju vyhlásila za kráľovnú. 2. júna 1953 bola korunovaná vo Westminsterskom opátstve.

Dňa 9. septembra 2015 sa stala najdlhšie vládnucim monarchom Spojeného kráľovstva, keď v dĺžke vládnutia prekonala svoju praprastarú matku kráľovnú Viktóriu. Wikipedia
