Van Morrison je všeobecne uznávaný spevák, skladateľ, básnik a multiinštrumentalista, nositeľ Radu britského impéria, držiteľ hudobnej ceny Grammy.

Van Morrison patrí k najvýznamnejším predstaviteľom doterajšej histórii populárnej hudby. Okrem suverénneho spevu, je uznávaným hudobný skladateľom a mnohostranne nadaným hudobníkom. Hrá na gitare, saxofóne, klávesových nástrojoch, fúkaciu harmonike, či bicích. Hudobne čerpá z R&B a z keltskej hudby a preberá vplyvy rocku, folku, soulu, džezu i country. K jeho prvým úspešným piesňam patrí „Gloria“, ktorú naspieval ešte ako člen skupiny Them. Túto pieseň nahrala v roku 1975 aj Patti Smith na svoj debutový album Horses.

Ďalšie významné skladby Van Morrisona sú, skladba storočia „Brown Eyed Girl“, „Moondance“, „Domino“, či „Wild Night“, nahral 35 hudobných albumov, z ktorých je najuznávanejší Astral Weeks a komerčne úspešný Moondance .

Van Morrison je držiteľom šiestich ocenení Grammy, v roku 1993 bol uvedený do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a v roku 2003 ho uviedli do Siene slávy pesničkárov .. Wikipedia
