Skutočné meno ostáva neznáme, aj keď niektorí odborníci[kto?] sa domnievajú, že sa mohla volať Takako Fudžiwarová . Je známa predovšetkým ako autorka románu Príbeh princa Gendžiho, ktorý bol napísaný v japončine niekedy medzi rokmi 1000 a 1008 a patrí tak medzi najstaršie romány v dejinách. Wikipedia
