Liou Siao-po bol čínsky literárny kritik, historik, aktivista za ľudské práva a politický väzeň.

Od roku 2003 pôsobil ako predseda nezávislého čínskeho PEN klubu. 8. decembra 2008 ho zadržali za spoluautorstvo Charty 08. Formálne ho čínske úrady zatkli 23. júna 2009 za podozrenie z „podnecovania k rozvracaniu štátnej moci“. Na základe tohto obvinenia bol odsúdený na jedenásť rokov väzenia.

Počas pobytu vo väzení mu bola v roku 2010 udelená Nobelova cena za mier za „dlhodobé a nenásilné úsilie za ľudské práva v Číne“. Wikipedia
