Richard Burton bol známy britský herec.

Jeho život bol veľmi búrlivý. Bol synom uhliara, ako dvojročný prišiel o matku a vychovala ho o dvadsať rokov staršia sestra Cecile. Študoval herectvo v Oxforde. V divadle debutoval v roku 1945.

Na konci 50. rokov sa stal uznávaným hercom tzv. novej vlny. Zahral si po boku Elizabeth Taylorovej v nákladnom filme Kleopatra, po ktorom sa jeho kariéra rozbehla naplno. Sedemkrát bol nominovaný na Oscara. Jeho posledným filmom bola adaptácia knihy George Orwella 1984.

Bol päťkrát ženatý, z toho dvakrát s Elizabeth Taylorovou.
