Edward „Ned“ Kelly bol írsko-austrálsky zálesák a zbojník. Je považovaný za chladnokrvného zabijaka, ale na druhej strane aj za ľudového hrdinu a symbol írsko-austrálskeho odporu proti britskej vláde.Narodil sa v austrálskom štáte Viktória ako syn írskeho trestanca a už v mladosti mal problémy s políciou. Po incidente v roku 1878, ktorý sa odohral v jeho dome, začala po ňom pátrať polícia. Po tom, ako zabil troch policajtov, ho spolu s jeho gangom prehlásili za vyhnanca. Jeho gang uskutočnil dve veľké bankové lúpeže v meste Euroa v štáte Viktória a Jerilderie v štáte Nový Južný Wales.

Posledný násilný konflikt s políciou sa odohral v Glenrowane 28. júna 1880. Kelly, oblečený do podomácky vyrobeného plátového brnenia a helmy, bol zajatý a odvlečený do väzenia. Za vraždu ho 11. novembra 1880 obesili. Jeho trúfalosť a známosť z neho vytvorili ikonickú postavu v dejinách Austrálie, folklóre a umení. Wikipedia
