Jair Messias Bolsonaro je brazílsky politik, armádny dôstojník vo výslužbe a súčasný, 38., prezident Brazílie. Predtým bol od roku 1991 ako členom brazílskeho parlamentu ako zástupca štátu Rio de Janeiro. Je členom Sociálno-liberálnej strany . Svojho štvorročného prezidentského mandátu sa ujal 1. januára 2019, kedy nahradil Michela Temera.

Narodil sa v meste Glicério v štáte São Paulo. Promoval na Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras v roku 1977 a slúžil v zložkách poľného delostrelectva a parašutizmu brazílskych ozbrojených síl. Známym verejnosti sa stal v roku 1986, kedy napísal článok pre časopis Veja, v ktorom kritizoval nízke mzdy armádnych dôstojníkov, za čo bol následne zatknutý na 15 dní, hoci mu prišlo množstvo podporných listov od kolegov z armády; o dva roky bol zbavený obvinení.V roku 1988 vstúpil s hodnosťou kapitána do vojenských záloh a v tom istom roku sa uchádzal o členstvo v miestnom zastupiteľstve v Rio de Janeire, bol úspešne zvolený ako člen Kresťanskodemokratickej strany. V roku 1990 bol zvolený do dolnej komory Národného kongresu a bol následne šesťkrát zvolený opätovne. Počas svojho 27-ročného mandátu ako kongresman sa Bolsonaro stal známym pre jeho silnú podporu národného konzervatizmu. Je hlasný kritik ľavicovej politiky, vrátane manželstiev pre homosexuálov, potratov, pozitívnej diskriminácie, liberalizácie drog, a sekularizmu. V zahraničnej politike obhajuje bližšie vzťahy s USA a Izraelom. Počas prezidentskej kampane v roku 2018 začal zastávať pro-trhové a ekonomicky liberálne postoje. Je považovaný za polarizujúceho a kontroverzného politika vzhľadom na jeho názory a komentáre, ktoré boli označené za krajne pravicové a konzervatívne, vyvolávajúce v Brazílii podporu aj kritiku.
