Georges Edouard Lemaître bol belgický kozmológ, rímskokatolícky kňaz. Nezávisle od Alexandra Alexandroviča Fridmana odvodil v roku 1927 relativistické nestacionárne modely vesmíru s big bangom a dal ich ako prvý do priamej súvislosti s expanziou vesmíru, ktorú objavil Edwin Hubble v roku 1929. Na základe jeho teoretických prác rozpracoval teóriu big bangu George Gamow. Lemaître sa často nazýva otcom big bangu. Wikipedia
