Kýros II. Veľký , asi 576 alebo 590 pred Kr. – † 529 pred Kr., bol perzský kráľ z dynastie Achajmenovcov od 558 pred Kr., zakladateľ Perzskej ríše.

V rokoch 553 až 550 pred Kr. odvládol Médsku ríšu, 546 Malú Áziu aj s tamojšími gréckymi kolóniami , 539 Babyloniu a rozsiahle oblasti strednej Ázie. Vyslobodil Židov z babylonského zajatia . Wikipedia
